Heavenly Seduction: Synopsis
24 chapters, including pictures
©Billie Chainey, 2006

As an ailing, 26-year-old woman in 1978, Billie meets a handsome missionary who promises her eternal happiness and health if she turns her life over to Jesus. Their instant attraction opens the door to her seduction. Gideon introduces her to his dreams, desires and deceptions.

Lured by his seeming devotion to her and to God, as well as his sizzling sexuality and yearning for a meaningful role in the world, she falls in love—both with Gideon and the spiritual promise he was offering.

Samaria (Billie Chainey) and Gideon Harper, Christmas 1980
with Gideon, Christmas 1980

Inducted into a bizarre, nominally Christian cult calling itself The Family, originally known as Children of God, Billie is morphed into a diligent student, daily in the rote memorization of Bible passages and the writings of their leader.

Pressured to use her body to win souls for Jesus, Billie is caught in a whirlpool of love, sacred aspiration and unbridled sex, struggling to reconcile her feelings for her new lover, God, and the teachings of the cult’s self-proclaimed prophet, Moses David.

As Gideon complies with her demands for marriage, he fuels her belief that she is able to capture his affection; but she discovers constant betrayal at his hands, including a ploy to have her seduce a record producer—in reality, be raped—in return for a recording contract...

Billie tells her tale of love, lust, betrayal, mind control, mental abuse, health crises and elected medical negligence.

The Family / Children of God

The Children of God was started in 1968 in Huntington Beach, California, USA. Many early converts were drawn from the hippie era and Jesus Movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The group created controversy with its ideas of apocalypticism and revolution against the outside world that they call "the System," along with its central tenet that true disciples must drop out and "forsake all." They later changed their name to The Family of Love, The Family and recently, The Family International. It is however, still widely referred to as a cult in the media, often as the free love sex cult or The Family Cult.

  About me

Billie ChaineyI was once a radio talk-show host in Los Angeles. With a doctorate in naturopathic medicine, for a time I worked with a large chiropractic practice.

My already fragile health took a nosedive during my tenure with The Family cult. The constant attacks on my lack of faith for not being healed, and contracting a sexually transmitted disease from my husband, further weakened my immune system.

For the last 16 years I have been disabled by Parkinson's Disease, Fibromyalgia and a hip injury. I'm 55, and lay bedridden 90% of the time. I cannot do anything for myself, such as shower, cook, or clean. It is necessary for me to have someone take care of me 7 days a week.

The cost of this service in the United States was more than I could afford, living on the very limited Social Security and Medicare benefits afforded anyone under 65 years of age.

The financial cost to take care of me has led me to sell my house and leave America, as labor is cheaper in other countries. Despite the lower costs it’s still impossible to survive on Social Security and pay for everything that’s necessary for a complete invalid.

I’m offering my book; the only one written from the standpoint of a person seduced into The Family cult, at a nominal cost. Your money will go to my medical needs.

What I've done to help myself so far

The irony is that I contacted every government agency for Disabled people and keep hitting roadblocks because of being under the age of 65... In 2005 I started writing my book after taking one year of classes on memoir writing by Gotham Writers workshop... In 2006 I sent query letters to more than 100 different agents about publishing my book with no results... If you can think of any ways which I can get assistance please feel free to contact me.
